NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month In collaboration with the Hammond Writer's League, The Vision will be hosting this national program to encourage and improve writing this November. It is intended to allow someone to write a first draft of a novel in only a month with sufficient time devoted to the task. We will have work time in the media center every day before and after school, and will host several novelists as guest speakers. Join our online classroom here with classroom code IANQSUZN
Valentine's Day Poetry Contest During the week in February leading up to Valentine's Day, The Vision will have a table during lunch to accept entries to this contest. Submissions should be love themed (not that they must be typical love poems) and written on the heart shaped submission paper that will be available at the table during all lunch shifts. Winners will be determined during our meeting the next week, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive a gift card to a store TBA. If you have any questions, send us an email or come see us during lunch!
Winter Poetry Contest This contest was hosted by The Vision in the winter of the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years during the week of Hammond's annual Deck the Doors contest. Entries were poems written by Hammond students that followed the theme of winter and the holiday season. The entries and results of this contest have been posted here.
Valentine's Day Poetry Contest This contest was hosted by The Vision during the week before Valentine's Day during the 2016-2017 school year. Students had to write a short to medium length poem about the theme of love. Submissions were open at lunch throughout the week. Results and entries are available here.
Magazine Cover Contest This contest was hosted by The Vision in order to find artwork to use as the cover of our publication for the 2016-2017 school year. We accepted any form of art that could produce as flat and still product of visual art (not written art, although words could be used as part of the visual art). The top two submissions will be used as the inside and outside covers and many of the other submissions will be included with the works of visual art inside the magazine.
